I know we talked at length yesterday about how Sabancı uses ‘in Istanbul’ as their exhibition title and that it has now become synonymous with Sabancı. But that doesn’t really seem to be the case. The new exhibit at the Tophane i-Amire Gallery, owned by Mimar Sinan Univ., is also entitled ‘Miro in Istanbul’ (Miro İstanbul’da). So are they copying Sabancı or is it just such a generic title that it can be used by multiple institutions? And maybe it is not such a branding technique as we discussed (or at least not a successful one?).
