Getty Center - Interactive component

This online interactive component accompanies a Getty exhibition. about a bronze statue of Apollo excavated from Pompeii:

As part of a collaboration with the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, the sculpture was brought to the Getty Villa for conservation in 2009. What began as a project to clean the Apollo and ensure its stability for display developed into a rare opportunity to investigate the many stories it could tell. This exhibition combines scientific and technical analysis with archival research to present the newly conserved Apollo, constituting yet another chapter in its compelling life history.

Both the exhibition and the interactive explore how the piece was made, restored, and conserved, and the interactive lets you get up close and personal with the piece.

The public's fascination with conservation and other behind-the-scenes museum practices was brought up at the MFA yesterday. I wonder to what extent this Getty project satisfies that interest. I also wonder how the Getty encourages visitors to utilize these online components on-site or off-site.
