A critique of the Biennial and location ideas for the group project

A critique of the Biennial and the current art world (unfortunately in Turkish) by Ali Artun brings to mind many questions and arguments that were in discussion prior to the June-July Gezi protests. I thought it might be an interesting read. Although I am not sure about couple of the things he mentions in this article one such the one about KoƧ Group owning the biennial locations (they are the sponsors but I don’t know if they have any relations with the locations other than Arter.)

In terms of the group project location discussions I believe RCAC might also require permissions and it feels too much in the “comfort zone”. Depending on the project a more challenging location can be an abandoned space in the vicinity of RCAC (if there is still such a space).
