I went to the Blinky Palermo exhibit at the Hirsshorn during spring break and it was really interesting to see that the museum did not have wall labels and texts by the artworks. The museum essentially forced the visitors to look at the artwork prior to reading the labels by keeping such information in one sheet of paper at the end of each room. There were also interpretive guides who walked around the galleries with a badge noting "?" on their necks to prompt visitors to ask questions. I like the change in approach in visitor interaction and interpretation, however I don't know how successful it was because the visitor:guide ratio was significant and in my opinion many of the viewers did not go out of their way to ask the guides. All in all though, I enjoyed how the works were displayed and was pretty impressed with the exhibition.
